Season Stats: Delaware’s Abby Gonzales

Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Delaware’s women’s basketball team which will continue with senior guard Abby Gonzales.

Gonzales averaged eight points per game, 2.7 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game in 30.9 minutes per game in 29 games this season. The senior guard led the team this season in assists with 3.7.

The Wexford, Pennsylvania native was among the best in the Colonial Athletic Association in assists per game, as Gonzales placed in the eighth spot with 3.7 assists per game.

Delaware Falls To Maine In Season Opener

The Blue Hens would open the 2019-2020 with a 69-56 loss to Maine.

Gonzales had five points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal in opening day loss.

Delaware Ends A Four-Game Skid To Get First Win Of Season

The fifth game of the season is when the Hens finally etched in their first win, as the team defeated Cal St. Fullerton 72-55 on November 29th.

Gonzales had a season-high 17 points in the Hens first win of the season.

Overtime Win For The Hens Against Santa Clara

UD would fight all the way into overtime to get their second win of the season, as the team beat Santa Clara 81-80 in OT.

Gonzales had a season-high 10 assists in the overtime win.

Hens Take Down Robert Morris 73-62

On December 7th, Delaware would take down Robert Morris 73-62.

The senior guard had 16 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal in the win.

Blue Hens Take A 63-44 Win Over George Mason

Delaware looked to rebound off of two road losses with a game against George Mason at home, which the team did just that as they beat the Patriots 63-44 on December 29th.

Gonzales would have seven points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals in the game.

Delaware Halts A Two-Game Skid With 80-59 Win Vs Hofstra

In the first home game of the new year, Delaware would bring home an 80-59 win over Hofstra.

Gonzales had seven points, nine rebounds, five assists and one steal in the win.

Hens Defeat Elon 65-56

The Blue Hens halted their three-game losing streak with a 65-56 road win over Elon January 26th.

Gonzales had two points and four assists in the game.

Delaware Takes A 69-62 Win Over Towson

In the #PLAY4KAY Pink game, Delaware was able to take down Towson 69-62 on February 2nd.

The Wexford, Pennsylvania native had 11 points, three rebounds, two assists and one block and one steal in the win.

Back To Back Wins For UD

The Hens would win back to back games for the first time since November 30th, as the team defeated Northeastern 81-69 on February 7th.

Gonzales had 12 points, one rebound, two assists and one steal in the win.

Three Straight Wins For Delaware

For the first time this season, the Blue Hens would win three straight games as the team beat Hofstra 77-67.

Gonzales had 14 points, one rebound, six assists, and two steals in the win.

Hens Take Home A 73-60 Win Vs Elon

UD would sweep the season series against Elon as the team defeated the Phoenix 73-60 on February 21st.

Gonzales had 15 points, three rebounds, four assists and one block in the win.

Delaware Snaps A Three-Game Losing Streak With 63-54 Win Vs College Of Charleston

The Blue Hens would end a tough three-game losing streak with a 63-54 win over College Of Charleston on March 5th.

Gonzales had two rebounds in the game.

Hens Get Final Win Vs UNCW

Delaware would close the season with winning back to back games, as the team beat UNCW 61-57.

Gonzales had three points, four assists and one steal in the final win.
