The Goldey-Beacom’s men basketball team has now won three straight games as the team defeated the Concordia College Clippers 87-60 on Saturday at the Joseph West Jones Center.
The leading scorer of the game for Goldey-Beacom was junior guard Marcellus Livingston who had 23 points.
Sophomore forward Juran Ligonde recorded his second double-double of the season as he had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Two other Lightning players scored in double-digits which were freshman guard Nazim Derry (11) and junior guard Kyle Elliot (15).
Goldey-Beacom had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included points in the pain (40-27), points off turnovers (20-7),fast-break points (8-6), bench points (28-20), rebounds (37-32), assists (22-12), turnovers (12-22), blocks (4-2) and steals (11-5).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 50.0 %( 34-68) and with Concordia shooting 40.7 % (24-59). The Lightning also held the advantage at the three-point line with the team having a 44.4 % shooting percentage (12-29) and with the Clippers having a 42.1 % (8-19) shooting percentage.
The Lightning also bested Concordia at the free-throw line as the team shot 77.8 % (7-9). Clippers shot 57.1 % (4-7) at the foul line in the game.

Goldey Dominates In First Half To Take 19 Point Lead
The leading scorer for the Lightning in the first half was Marcellus Livingston who had 15 points. Goldey-Beacom saw the bucket really well in the first half, as the team shot 51.6 % (16-31). The Lightning also shot 71.4 % (5-7) in the first half at the free-throw line.
Concordia shot 35.5 % (11-31) in the first half and they also shot 50.0 % (2-4) at the free-throw line.
The game started with the Lightning striking fast as the team came out with a 12-4 lead which saw Goldey hit two shots from the perimeter.
Starting at the 12:53 minute mark, Goldey would go on a 29-14 run which would increase their lead to 41-19 with 2:37 left in the half. The Lightning hit six shots from the perimeter on that run. Livingston was the leader on that run by scoring 12 of the 29 points.
The Clippers outscored Goldey-Beacom 7-5 for the rest of the half to decrease the Lightning’s lead to 46-27.
Lightning Takes Home 27 Point Win
The leading scorer in the second half for the Lightning was Marcellus Livingston with 8 points. As a team, Goldey-Beacom shot 48.6 % (18-37) in the second half and they also shot 100.0 % (2-2) at the free-throw line.
Concordia shot 46.4 % (13-28) in the second half and the team also shot 66.7 % (2-3) at the free-throw line.
Goldey-Beacom won the turnover battle in the second half by 7-15.
In the first ten minutes of the game, the Lightning would outscore the Clippers 20-11 to push their lead to 67-38 with 10:36 left in the half. The leader on that run for the Lightning was Livingston who scored eight of the 20 points.
Starting at the 7:38 minute mark, Concordia would outscore the Lightning 16-15 but it did not matter as Goldey still took home a dominating 87-60 win.
The Lightning head to Philadelphia to take on Holy Family on February 12th at 7:30 ET.
