The University of Delaware men’s basketball team moves to 7-0 after defeating the Stony Brook Seawolves 75-61 on Wednesday at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The leading scorer of the game for the Blue Hens was junior guard Ryan Allen as he scored 22 points.
Redshirt sophomore forward Justyn Mutts had a double-double in the game as he had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
One other Blue Hen player scored in double digits which was junior guard Kevin Anderson who scored 11 points.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game which included points in the paint (34-18), points off turnovers (14-8), fast-break points (10-4), bench points (11-8), assists (17-7), turnovers (7-15) and steals (7-2).
The Blue Hens also bested Stony Brook in shooting percentage by shooting 44.8 %(30-67) and the Seawolves shot 28.8 % (19-66). Delaware also had the advantage at the three-point line by shooting 33.3 % (10-33) and Stony Brook shot 24.2 % (8-33).
Delaware Takes A 19 Point Lead Into The Half
As a team, Delaware shot 47.06 % (16-34) in the first half of this game. The Hens also shot 50% (1-2) on the free-throw line.
Stony Brook really struggled in the first half with shooting, as the team shot 25.00 % (7-28). The Seawolves also shot 50.00 % (3-6) from the free-throw line in the first half.
The first opening minutes of the first half was tight as the score remained close and the game was tied at five with 16:30 left in half.
At the 16:04 mark, Delaware broke the game up wide open, as the team went on a 19-2 run which gave the Hens a 24-7 lead with 8:38 remaining in the first half. The run was led by Kevin Anderson and senior forward Jacob Cushing who each scored five points on the 19 point run.
Starting at the 7:56 minute mark, the Blue Hens made another run which the team outscored Stony Brook 15-13 to take a 39-20 lead into the half.

Delaware shot 47.06 % (16-34) in the first half and Stony Brook was shooting 25.00 % (7-28).
Hens shot 50% (1-2) at the free-throw line and the Seawolves shot 50.00 % (3-6).
Delaware Gets Outscored In Second Half But Defense Puts Away The Victory
The Blue Hens shooting regressed some in the second half as the team shot 42.42 % (14-33) and they also went 80.00 % (4-5) at the free-throw line.
The Seawolves improved their shooting in the second half as the team shot 31.58 % (12-38) and they also took advantage of their time at the foul line by shooting 92.31 % (12-13).
Stony Brook outscored Delaware 41-36 in the second half.
Starting at the 12:56 minute mark, Stony Brook’s offense was feeling it, thanks in part of making six free throw shots. The Seawolves went on a 12-4 run in that time period which closed Delaware’s lead to eight with the score being 59-51 with 8:04 left in the game.
The Blue Hens answered back a minute later with a 13-5 run of their own which gave the team a 72-56 lead with 1:27 left in the game. Ryan Allen led the charge on the run which he scored seven of the 13 points.
The last score for Delaware came from freshman guard Ebby Asamoah as he hit a three-pointer to give his team a 75-58 lead with 25 seconds left in the game.
The Blue Hens would go on to win 75-61 over Stony Brook and the team stays at home to face the University of Maryland Eastern Shore on November 29th at 7PM.
