The Wesley College women’s lacrosse team continue to roll as the team defeated the Sweet Briar College Vixens 18-1 on Wednesday at Babcock Field. The win is Wesley’s second straight win of the season.
Two Wolverines had hat tricks in the game and they were senior attacker Fallon Fore (6) and senior midfielder Paige Brehm (6).
Along with six goals, Fore had eight points, two assists, eight shots, eight shots on the goal, five ground balls, four draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Along with six goals, Brehm had nine points, three assists, six shots, six shots on the goal,three ground balls,two draw controls,one turnover and two caused turnovers.
Five other Wesley players scored goals and they were sophomore defender Emily Caldarelli (1), sophomore attacker Sarah Fryer (1), junior defender Kassie Dieter (1), junior attacker Kathleen Martin (1) and senior midfielder/defender Brianna Bacon (2).
Seven Wesley players tallied multiple ground balls in the win and they were Fore (5),Brehm (3), freshman defender Emily Magness (3), Caldarelli (6),Dieter (4), Martin (2) and Bacon (2).
Three Wolverines picked up multiple draw controls and they were Fore (4),Brehm (2) and Bacon (4).
Seven Wesley players caused multiple turnovers in the game and they were Fore (4), freshman midfielder Andrea Lopez Herrera (2),Brehm (3),Magness (3), Caldarelli (5),Dieter (2) and Bacon (3).
Freshman goal keeper Maria Rowland did not have too many shots come her way and she made it look easy as she allowed one goal, three shots and had two saves in 60 minutes of play.
Wesley Scores 13 Goals In Dominating First Period
Wesley started the game with Paige Brehm scoring a goal in the man-down situation as Kassie Dieter assisted on the goal.
About a minute later, Fallon Fore would score a goal in the man-down situation as Paige Brehm assisted on the goal. Fore’s goal would increase Wesley’s lead to 2-0 with 26:02 left in the period.
The next Wesley scoring drive started with Sarah Fryer causing a Sweet Briar turnover which led to Fore scoring her second goal of the game in the man-down situation. Fore’s goal would increase the Wolverines lead to 3-0 with 22:43 in the first period.
At the 21:15 minute mark, Wesley’s Brehm would score her second goal of the game in a man-down situation as she was assisted by Dieter on the goal. Brehm’s goal would give the Wolverines a 4-0 lead.
In the next minute, Wesley would score their fifth straight goal when Fore scored her third goal in a man-down situation as Dieter assisted on the goal.
Wesley’s sixth scoring drive started with Fore causing a Vixen turnover which led to Fore scoring her fourth goal of the game in the man-down situation.
At the 17:33 minute mark, Dieter would score a goal in the man-down situation which was assisted by Brianna Bacon. Dieter’s goal would increase Wesley’s lead to 7-0.
Wesley’s eighth straight goal would happen with Emily Caldarelli scoring a goal in a man-down situation with 13:42 left in the period.
The Wolverines ninth scoring drive started with Emily Caldarelli causing a Vixens turnover which she picked up the ground ball. It was followed up with Brianna Bacon scoring a goal in a man-down situation with 12:14 left in the period.
The 10th goal of the game for Wesley would be scored by Fore which it was her fifth of the game. Fore’s goal was assisted by Bacon.
The Wolverines were not done yet as at the 8:34 minute mark, Wesley’s Brehm would score her third goal game of the game which was assisted by Brianna Bacon to increase their team’s lead to 11-0.
About seven minutes later, Brehm would be back at again scoring her fourth goal of the game in the man-down situation and was assisted by Fore to increase their team’s lead to 12-0.
Kathleen Martin would score the last goal of the period for Wesley with 24 seconds left and she was assisted by Brehm on the goal.
Wesley Adds Five More Goals To Seal Dominating Win
There was no stopping the Wolverines as they brought same fire power they had in the first to the second period.
The second period started with Wesley’s Paige Brehm scoring her fifth goal of the game in the man-down situation as she was assisted by Fallon Fore to increase their team’s lead to 14-0.
Wesley’s 14 goal streak ended when Sweet Briar’s Victoria Lawson scored in a Man-up situation to decrease the Wolverines lead to 14-1.
At the 14:39 minute mark, Wesley’s Brianna Bacon would hit a free position shot in a man-down situation to increase her team’s lead to 15-1.
Two minutes later, Fallon Fore would score her sixth goal of the game which was assisted by Brehm to increase her team’s lead to 16-1 with 12:31 left in the game.
Wesley’s 17th goal scoring drive started with Kassie Dieter causing a Vixen turnover which she picked up the ground ball. It was followed up with Sarah Fryer scoring a goal in a man-down situation which she was assisted by Dieter.
The Wolverines last goal would come from Paige Brehm who hit her sixth goal of the game on a free position shot to give her team a 18-0 dominating win.
Wesley comes back to Delaware for their home opener against Chatham on March 9th at 11:00am ET.
