Robinson Scores 29 As WilmU Takes A 75-67 Win Vs Bloomfield

The Wilmington University women’s team added their sixth win of the season on Saturday when the team beat the Bloomfield College Bears 75-67 at the Bloomfield Gym.

The leading scorer for the Wildcats was graduate student guard Macy Robinson with 29 points.

Wilmington’s senior forward Nyree Grant recorded a double-double in the win with 10 points and collected 10 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Jadyn Whitsitt also scored in double digits in Wilmington’s win with scoring 14 points.

WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included Rebounds (44-35), Assists (16-15), Steals (7-6) and Blocks (1-0).

Wilmington also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 45.8% (27-59) and with the Bears shooting 42.9% ( 30-70).The Wildcats also bested Bloomfield from the three point line as well with the team shooting 41.4%(12-29) and the Bears shooting 21.1%(4-19). WilmU also held the advantage at the foul line as well with the team shooting 40.9%(9-22) and Bloomfield shooting 37.5% (3-8).

 

Robinson Scores 15 Leads WilmU to First Qtr Lead

The leading scorer for the Wildcats in the first quarter was Macy Robinson who scored 15 points.

Bloomfield could not stop Wilmington in the first quarter as the team shot 56.3% (9-16). WilmU also shot 55.6% (5-9) from the three point line in the first quarter.

Bloomfield struggled to find any good shots in the first quarter as the team shot 33.3% (5-15) and they also shot 100.0% (2-2) at the foul line.

The first quarter started with WilmU jumping out of the gate with a 15-3 lead which was led by Robinson who hit three shots from three point line on that run.

Wilmington would outscore Bloomfield 9-8 for the rest of the quarter to take 24-13 lead into the second quarter.

 

Bloomfield Surges Back In Game But Wilmington Holds Slim Lead At Half

In the second quarter, Bloomfield stepped up their defense and made it hard for Wilmington to find any good looks as the team shot 18.2% (2-11).

Bloomfield improved their shooting in the second quarter as they went 50.0% (8-16).

Wilmington lost the turnover battle in the quarter by 5-3.

The second quarter started with the Bears going on a 11-0 run which tied the game at 24 with 6:19 left in the half.

The Wildcats would outscore Bloomfield 7-6 for the rest of the quarter to take a slim 31-30 lead into halftime.

First Half Stats

Wilmington had a 40.74% (11-16) shooting parentage in the first half and Bloomfield had 41.94% (13-31).

WilmU’s leading scorer in the half was  Macy Robinson with  22 points.

Bears leading scorer in the half was  Caitlin Townes with 11 points.

 

WilmU Shooting Improves But Loses Lead In Third Qtr

In the third quarter, Wilmington had their best shooting percentage of the game with the team shooting 57.1% (8-14). The Wildcats also went 50.0% (2-4) at the three point line and 50.0% (4-8) at the foul line.

Bloomfield also had their best shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter with the team shooting 60.0% (12-20). The Bears also shot 50.0% (2-4) at the three point line in the third quarter.

The quarter started withe the Wildcats outscoring the Bears 10-6 to increase their lead to 41-36 with 7:00 minutes left in the third.

Then around the 6:24 minute mark, Bloomfield would go on a 8-2 run which tied the game at 44 with 5:03 left in third quarter.

There was about 2:28 left in the quarter and the Bears would outscore the Wildcats 8-4 to take a 57-53 lead into the fourth.

 

Turnovers Hurt Bloomfield As Wilmington Gets The Road Win

In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats shooting dipped some as the team shot 44.4% (8-18) and they also shot 50.0% (3-6) at the foul line.

Wilmington’s defense stepped up in the fourth as the team did not let the Bears get too comfortable shooting the ball as they shot 26.3% (5-19).

Wilmington won the turnover battle in the fourth quarter by 1-4.

The Wildcats outscored Bloomfield 22-10 in the fourth quarter.

WilmU would hit two free throw shots as the game was nearing to the end as they sealed a 75-67 road win.

Wilmington heads back home to the WU Athletic Complex to take on the University of the Sciences on February 19th at 6:00 pm ET.
