Allen Scores 29 In Blue Hens 76-69 Win Over James Madison

The University of Delaware men’s basketball team are now 3-0 against CAA opponents   at the Bob Carpenter Center this year, after the team beat the James Madison University Dukes 76-69 on Thursday.

Sophomore guard Ryan Allen was the leading scorer in the game for the Blue Hens with 29 points.

Redshirt senior forward Eric Carter also scored in double digits in the Hens win with 26 points. Carter was one rebound away from a double-double as he collected nine.

University of Delaware had the advantage in shooting as the team overall went 28 for 50  (56.0 %), 8 for 16 ( 50%) at the three point line and 12 for 14 ( 85.7 %) at the the free throw line.

James Madison shot overall 26 for 60 ( 43.3 %),  8 for 21 ( 38.1 %) at the three point line and 9 for 13 ( 69.2 %) at the free throw line.

 

Carter Has 18 Points In 1st Half to Lead Hens to Comfortable 41-29 Lead

The leading scorer for the Hens in the first half was Eric Carter who had 18 points. Carter hit 7 out of his 8 shots and hit all four foul shots in the first half.

Ryan Allen also had a nice half for the Hens as he scored 10 points and went 2 for 4 from the three point line.

The Hens kept the Dukes away from any good shooting looks in the first half as James Madison shot 12 for 32 ( 37.50%).

Delaware did have a lot good looking shot opportunities as the team shot 16 for 26 ( 61.54 %) in the first half.

The game started with the Blue Hens jumping out quickly with a 16-2 lead which was led by Carter who had six of the 16 points in that run.

The Dukes outscored the Hens 27-25 for the rest of the half but it did not matter as the Hens took a 41-29 lead into the half.

First Half Stats

Blue Hens were shooting 61.54 % in the first half and James Madison was shooting 37.50%.

Delaware was shooting 50% from downtown and the Dukes 33.33 %.

Blue Hens leading scorer in the first half was Eric Carter who scored 18 points.

JMU leading scorer in the first half was Matt Lewis who scored 12 points.

 

Allen Scores 19 & Helps Hens Secure A Home Win

The leading scorer for the Hens in second half was Ryan Allen who scored 19 points. Allen hit 5 of his 8 shots and went 3 for 3 at the three point line in the second half. The Hens shooting in the second half cooled down some as the team went 12 for 24 ( 50%) and the Dukes went 14 for 28 ( 50%).

The Dukes made the game a little interesting in the early minutes of the second half as the team narrowed Delaware’s lead to 52-47.

The Blue Hens would outscore James Madison 24-22 for the rest of the half to secure a 76-69 home win.

Delaware looks to make it four straight wins at home against CAA opponents as the team takes on Towson on January 19th at 7:00pm ET.
