Blue Hens Slugger Nick Patten Honored As Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week

It was announced Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association that University of Delaware’s Nick Patten was named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week for his outstanding play this past week.

Patten was on fire during Blue Hens six game winning streak with a .500 batting average, 3 home runs, 18 runs scored and 13 RBIs during the streak last week.

The Blue Hens first baseman rose his season batting average to .333 this week, thanks to the outstanding hitting he had during the past week.

“Nick had about as good a week as I have seen here at Delaware,” Delaware head coach Jim Sherman said. “What’s ironic about Patten winning the award is that Jeremy Ake had probably just as good a week. Obviously those two were great candidates to win this week. Nick winning this award is great for our program and well-deserved because he works very hard.”

Patten is the first Delaware player to earn a CAA Player of the week honor, since Kevin Milley was named CAA Pitcher of The Week last May.
