Led by Nicole Enabosi who scored her fourth straight double-double on Friday night, the Delaware Blue Hens took home a 65-53 win over the Northeastern Huskies. The Blue Hens improved their record over the Huskies to 37-12 and have beat them 15 straight times at the Bob Carpenter center.
It all started in the first period where Delaware jumped out to a quick 7-3 to lead in the early minutes of the game. For the next couple minutes as Northeastern came back and tied it at 7, the two teams were just battling for the lead.
Then that all changed with less then five minutes left in the period, the Hens went on a 10-0 run to end the period with a 18-7 lead.
Delaware came out hot in the early minutes of the 2nd period going on a 7-0 run to extend the lead to 25-7. Abby Gonzales started the run with a three pointer and it ended with a Sade Chatman jump shot. Starting around the 7: 17 mark in the second period, Huskies outscored the Blue Hens 14-7 to bring the halftime score to 34-21.

The Blue Hens came out on fire hitting three consecutive shots to put them up 40-21 before the first thirty-second time out in the period.
The Huskies would outscore the Hens 15-10 for the rest of the period but Delaware would still have a huge lead with the score being 50-38 at the end of three.
Blue Hens would go up by fifteen in the fourth period thanks to a Erika Brown three pointer with 9:03 left in the game. Huskies dug themselves to deep of a hole and never came close shirking the lead to single digits. Delaware would take home an easy 65-53 win at the final buzzer.
Blue Hens Head Coach Tina Martin said this about the team’s win on Friday night.
“I feel really good about where everyone’s focus is right now. Our defense was outstanding tonight, especially in the first half. If we keep playing team defense like this, it will take us a long way. Defense helps the offensive end as well. We’re really playing like a team right now and that shows in everything we’re doing. We have to keep this rolling as there’s still a long way to go in the season.”
Sade Chatman led the Hens with 20 points in the game which was also a career high for the forward.
Two other Blue Hens scored in double digits and they were Nicole Enabosi (15) and Erika Brown (13).
Enabosi also becomes the first sophomore since Christina Rible in the 99-00 season to register four straight double-doubles.
Enabosi talked about the importance of rebounding.
“I just try to let it [rebounding] come to me. It’s extremely important, so I try to get as many as I can. Rebounding is all about hustling and being aggressive. If the ball is out there, I’m going to do everything I can to make sure that it becomes Delaware’s possession.
Delaware (9-8, 3-3 CAA) hosts College of Charleston at the Bob Carpenter Center on Sunday. Tip off is 2 p.m ET.
