Wilmington University’s athletic department announced Friday that the University will bring on Men’s Lacrosse to their varsity program. Including the addition of the men’s lacrosse, Wilmington now has 14 varsity programs. Wilmington’s men lacrosse program will start in 2017-2018 season.
The men’s lacrosse team will play at the turf field at the WU Athletic Complex, located in Newark, DE on Pulaski Highway.
Wilmington will be joining fellow Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference member, Felician of sponsoring a men’s championship lacrosse for the first time in 2018.
Director of Athletics Linda Van Drie-Andrzjewski said this about the addition of men’s lacrosse to Wilmington.
“It’s an exciting time for the athletic department with the addition of men’s lacrosse,” Director of Athletics Linda Van Drie-Andrzjewski said. “Not only does it mean growth within the department here at Wilmington, it means growth within the CACC and the sport of men’s lacrosse in state of Delaware.”
Wilmington has begun their search for a head coach for the sport.
