Wilmington University suffer their first loss to Morgan State

Wilmington University suffered their first loss of the season Thursday night with 88-73 loss to Morgan state. The Wildcats are now 3-1 on the season.

Wilmington traveled  to Baltimore, Maryland to take on the Morgan State Bears and right from the beginning it was all Morgan State.

With a quick 3-0 start, Morgan State never let up and was up by 17 points by the end of the first half. The Wildcats poor shooting ( 35% FG) and Bears defense just left Wilmington always trying to play catch up.

In the second half, Wilmington made it interesting by coming within 8 points of Morgan State with 7:29 left in the game.  The Wildcats comeback was thanks to guard Tyaire Ponzo-Meek who had some timely shots during the run. Ponzo-Meek also led the team in points with 23.

Morgan State would shake off that comeback attempt from Wilmington and go on a run to put them up as many as 18 at one point in the second half. The Bears were led by the hot play of Forwards Phillip Carr and David Syfax who both lead the team with 21 points.

Wilmington’s next game is against Bloomsburg at the WU Athletics Complex on November 26 at 3:00 pm ET.
