The Wilmington University baseball team moved their record to 6-2 on Sunday with a 4-2 victory over the Mansfield University Mounties.

The score would tied up at one run after two innings.
After neither team could get a run home in the first inning, it would be a different scene in the second, where both Mansfield and Wilmington University scored a run.
Eric Gustofson would get the scoring started in this one, as he would go home on an error by WilmU’s second baseman to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead.
Then, at the bottom of the second inning, the Wildcats’ Senior catcher, Jack McDonald, would come up to the plate first and blast a solo home run to right field to tie the game at one.
The game tied at two runs after the third inning.
Mansfield would respond to that score with a home run of their own, as Ryan Verbonitz would hit a solo bomb to right field to give his team a 2-1 edge in the top of the third inning.
WilmU would fire right back in the bottom of the third, as the team scored one run on three hits.
Junior catcher Nick Classie would start off the inning by doubling to left field. After Classie’s hit, junior outfielder Sean Glatts would slap a bunt single to the pitcher.
Two plays later, senior second baseman Erik Grady hit an RBI bunt single to the pitcher to tie the game at two.
Wilmington University would take a one-run lead after the fourth inning.
The Wildcats would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth on a double steal, as on the fifth play, Nick Classie stole second, and senior shortstop Matt Warrington stole home to give his team a 3-2 advantage.
WilmU takes home a 4-2 victory!
Wilmington’s last score of the game would come in the bottom of the fifth, where Jack McDonald would ground out to second base, but it would allow sophomore infielder Tyler Pirrung to score to push their team’s edge to 4-2.
Pitching Recap:
Sophomore starting pitcher Scott Borgmann went three innings and gave up six hits, two runs, one earned run, two walks, two strikeouts, and one home run.
The Wildcats bullpen would step up in this game, as the crew gave up a combined three hits, three walks, and six strikeouts.
Sophomore pitcher Steve Schenning would get the win in the game, as he went three innings, one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts.
Senior pitcher Dom Grady would earn the save in the victory, as he went one inning and struck out one batter.
