Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes’ performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Wesley’s softball team which will conclude with sophomore pitcher Jessica Anderson.

Anderson had a 2.08 ERA, a 6-1 record, three complete games, 44 hits, 23 runs, 13 earned runs, 11 walks, 52 strikeouts, and two home runs in nine appearances. The sophomore pitcher led the team in strikeouts, wins (co-leader), and innings pitched in the 2020 season.

The Smyrna, Delaware native was among the best in the Atlantic East Conference in ERA as Anderson placed eighth with 2.08. The Wesley pitcher was also second in innings pitched, first in batters struck out, and first in wins ( co-leader) in the conference.

Wolverines Sweep Keystone With 5-2 Win

Wesley started this game with a big first inning by scoring four runs which would later lead to a 5-2 win against Keystone on February 16th.

Anderson pitched seven innings, six hits, two runs, two earned runs, struck out 13 batters, and earned the win.

Wolverines Snap Three-Game Losing Streak With 8-0 Win Vs Hilbert

Wesley had 11 hits in this game and the team turned those hits into eight runs which they ended up with an 8-0 win over Hilbert on March 1st.

Anderson pitched five innings, three hits, struck out 12 batters, one walk, and earned the win.

Offense Scores 11 Runs To Take 11-3 Win Vs St. Elizabeth

In the early innings of this game, Wesley would score four runs and then the team would later add on a combined seven runs in the fourth and fifth innings of this one to take an 11-3 win over St. Elizabeth.

Anderson pitched four innings, three hits, two runs, one walk, six strikeouts and earned the win.

Wolverines Take 1-0 Win Vs, Cedar Crest

After scoring 40 runs in their last four games, Wesley would only need one run to win against Cedar Crest on March 3rd.

Anderson pitched seven innings, four hits, three walks, seven strikeouts and earned the win.

Wolverines Take A 4-2 Win Over Waynesburg

Wesley would score two runs in the first and two runs in the fourth inning in this game which eventually led to a 4-2 win over Waynesburg.

Anderson pitched six innings, five hits, two runs, two earned runs, three strikeouts, and earned the win.

Wesley Closes Season With A 7-3 Win Vs Stevenson

On March 11th, Wesley would score a combined six runs in the fourth and fifth innings which would lead to a 7-3 win over Stevenson.

Anderson pitched six innings, seven hits, three runs, two earned runs, two walks, and three strikeouts and earned the win.
