Goldey-Beacom earns a sweep versus Felician

Game Leaders:

RBIs:   Dante DiSabatino and Garrett Musey would lead the team in RBIs with two in the win.

Runs: Johnny Kampes and Braden Kolmansberger also led the team in runs with two in the game.

Hits: Braden Kolmansberger and Christian Petrillo would lead the team in hits, with two in the win.

Game Two Recap:

Goldey-Beacom would get the scoring started in the second matchup, as the team scored three runs on two hits in the top of the second inning.

Junior infielder Garrett Musey would get scoring action started by hitting a two-run double to left field to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Two batters later, sophomore outfielder Christian Petrillo slapped an RBI double to center field to extend the Lightning’s edge to 3-0.

There was a lot of movement on the bases for GBC in the top of the second inning, as the team stole three bases and was issued three walks.

Felician would answer back in the bottom of the inning by pushing in on a run to slice the lead to 3-1.

The Lightning would continue to add to their lead as they scored one run in the top of the third inning to expand their advantage to 4-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Golden Falcons would keep clawing back, as the team scored three runs on two hits to tie the game at four.

One of the highlights in the inning for Felician was when Jose Medrano hit a two-run single to center field to tie the game at four.

Junior third baseman Kyle Walker would give the Lightning back the lead in the top of the fourth inning when he hit an RBI single up the middle of the field to give his team a 5-4 edge.

The Lightning would add another run in the top of the fifth inning to take the score to 6-4.

In the top of the sixth inning, senior catcher Johnny Kampes would get on base by hitting a single up the middle of the field. He would then steal second and then third base. Kampes would score on a throwing error by the Golden Falcons’ catcher to give GBC a 7-4 advantage.

Goldey would score one more run in the seventh inning to seal an 8-4 win over Felician.

Pitching recap:

Junior pitcher Karl Schmidt would go three innings, giving up three hits, four runs, three earned runs, strike three batters out, three walks, hit a batter, and earn the win.

Sophomore pitcher Luke Drzemiecki would come in for Schmidt, as he went two innings, one walk, and struck two batters out.

Junior pitcher Dylan Bittle closed out the game by going two innings, striking three batters out, and earning the save.
