Wilmington University clinches CACC Tournament Berth with 82-74 win over Goldey-Beacom

Wilmington would lead by four points at the end of the first half.

The game started with Goldey-Beacom jumping out to a 6-3 advantage with 17:20 left in the opening half.

Thirteen seconds later, Wilmington would answer back by scoring six straight points to take a 9-6 lead with 15:48 remaining in the first half. Taalib Holloman scored all six points during that run.

Fast forward to the 9:51 minute mark, where Justin Thomas would make a jump shot to push the Wildcats’ edge to 25-20.

Thirty seconds later, WilmU would continue to widen their lead as the team outscored the Lightning 7-2 to extend their advantage to 32-22 with 6:34 left in the opening half. Holloman and Thomas would score all seven points during that time.

Two minutes and 77 seconds later, Goldey-Beacom’s Tyshon Judge would drain a three-point shot to tie cut the lead to one point (32-31) with 3:57 remaining in the first half.

In the remaining minutes of the opening half, WilmU would score nine more points to go into halftime with a 41-37 advantage.

WilmU wins 82-74!

The second half would start off with the Lightning outscoring Wilmington 12-8 to tie the game at 49 with 13:40 left on the clock.

In the next 11 minutes and four seconds, the lead would ping pong back and forth between the two teams, with WilmU taking the lead five times during that period. Goldey-Beacom tied and led the game twice during those 11 minutes. The last bucket during that time came from the Wildcats’ Taalib Holloman, who made a free throw to push his team’s edge to 70-67.

Starting at the 1:44 minute mark, Wilmington would outscore Goldey-Beacom 12-7 to seal an 82-74 victory. Eight of the 12 points came from the free-throw line.
