Randy Rickards scores 22 points in Wilmington University’s 92-74 win over Queen’s College (NY)

Wilmington would lead by 12 points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Wildcats dashing off to a 10-4 advantage with 16:19 left in the opening half. Randy Rickards was the leading man during this run, as he had four points, two rebounds, and one steal.

A minute and 78 seconds later, Queens College would score seven straight points to grab an 11-10 edge over WilmU with 14:41 remaining in the first half.

Sixteen seconds later, Wilmington would go off on a 16-7 run to take a 26-18 lead with 7:46 left in the opening half. Justin Thomas and Marcus Pierce scored ten of the team’s ten points during that time.

The Wildcats defense was strong during the run, as the team had five defensive rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.

WilmU would outscore the Knights 14-10 for the rest of the first half to head into halftime with a 40-28 advantage. Rickards had the hot hand during this time, as he scored seven of the team’s 14 points.

Wilmington would come out in the early minutes of the second half on fire, as the team went on a 20-10 run to push their lead to 60-38 with 15:42 remaining in the game. Amiri Stewart, Justin Thomas, and Marcus Pierce would score 17 of the team’s 20 points during that time.

Seven seconds later, Queens College would respond by outscoring the Wildcats 17-9 to narrow the deficit a little by a score of 69-55 with 9:34 left in the second half.

Fast forward to the 4:49 minute mark, where WilmU’s Randy Rickards would rock the backboard with a slam dunk to give his team an 80-65 advantage.

Wilmington would outscore the Knights 12-9 for the rest of the game to seal a dominating 92-74 victory.
