Blue Hens would lead by six points at the end of the first half.
The game would start with Delaware jumping out to a quick 7-2 advantage with 17:43 left in the opening half. Senior guard Ebby Asamoah would drain a three-pointer during the run.
Twenty-six seconds later, Northeastern would roar back to score nine straight points to take a 9-7 lead with 16:37 remaining in the first half.
The Blue Hens would answer back seconds later with Redshirt junior guard Johnny McCoy hitting a jump shot and Christian Ray hitting two free throw shots to tie the game at 11 with 15:27 left in the opening half.
Fast forward to the 7:29 minute mark, where the Huskies’ Masai Troutman would make a three-pointer to put his team up by four points(27-23).
Twelve seconds later, UD would fly off scoring 14 unanswered points to grab a 37-27 advantage with 4:12 left in the first half. The University of Delaware drained three shots from the three-point line during the run. Cavan Reilly made two of those shots, and Jameer Nelson Jr. sunk the other one.
Starting at the 3:56 minute mark, the Huskies would outscore Delaware 9-5 to cut the lead to six points (42-36) at the end of the first half.
Hens win 81-78!
In the early minutes of the second half, Northeastern would continue to slice at the Blue Hens’ lead, as they outscored them 17-13 to pull the score within two points with 12:33 left in the game.
One minute and 16 seconds later, the Huskies’ Coleman Stucke would get a jump shot to go in to cut Delaware’s advantage to one point (56-55).
The Blue Hens would start to wake up after this, as the team scored eight straight points to push their edge back up to nine points (64-55) with 9:37 remaining in the game. Jameer Nelson Jr. would have the hot hand on this run, as he had scored six of the UD’s eight points.
Fast forward to the 4:43 minute mark, where the Huskies’ Coleman Stucke would make a three-point shot to tie the game at 68.
Seconds later, the Hens would go on to score five straight points to take a 73-68 lead with 3:35 left in the fourth quarter. Gianmarco Arletti would score three of the five points on the run.
The clutch shooting of Northeastern’s Coleman Stucke would strike again as he drained a three-pointer with 15 seconds left in the game to slice the lead to one point (77-76).
After the Huskies score, the Blue Hens would push their advantage back up three points (79-76) with 12 seconds remaining in the second half.
Stucke would continue to put his Huskies right in striking distance of a comeback win, as he made two free throw shots to cut the deficit to one point (79-78) with eight seconds left in the game.
Northeastern’s comeback victory would be halted as Cavan Reilly would sink two free throw shots to seal an 81-78 win.
