Head Coach Dan Burke Earns 100th career victory as Wilmington University takes care of Felician 92-57

Wilmington University would lead by 28 points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Wildcats jumping out to a 5-2 advantage with 17:40 left in the opening half. Amiri Stewart drained a three-pointer during that run.

Starting at the 17:21 minute mark, WilmU would outscore Felician 23-8 to push their lead to 18 points (28-10) with 10:17 left in the first half. Justin Thomas, Randy Rickards, and Taalib Holloman would score all 23 points on the run. Wilmington was on fire from the three-point line during this time, as Thomas made one, and Holloman drained three of them.

The Wildcats defense was doing work as well on the run, as they had six defensive rebounds and two steals.

Wilmington would continue to stay hot for the rest of the opening half, as they would outscore the Golden Falcons 17-7 to take a 45-17 advantage into halftime. Rickards and freshman guard Marcus Pierce scored nine of WilmU’s 17 points during that run.

The Wildcats’ defense continued its solid play, as the team had ten defensive rebounds, four steals, and one block during that time.

WilmU wins 92-57!

There was no stopping Wilmington University as they would continue to have all the momentum in this one, as the team would go on a 24-13 run in the early minutes of the second half, which gave them a 39-point lead (69-30) with 9:28 left in the game. WilmU had no problem hitting from long range on this run, as freshman forward Kaleb Hedgepeth, junior guard Caleb Matthews, and Justin Thomas each drained a three-pointer.

Wilmington’s defense was also strong in the run, as they collected 11 defensive rebounds, and one steal.

For the rest of the second half, Felician would outscore the Wildcats 27-23, but it would not matter as WilmU easily took home a 92-57 victory.
