Delaware State would trail by 13 points at the end of the first half.
The game would start with South Carolina State dashing off on a 10-4 advantage with 15:03 left in the opening half.
Fourteen seconds later, DSU would answer back by scoring six straight points to tie the game at ten with 12:37 remaining in the first half.
Starting at the 12:07 minute mark, the Bulldogs would go on a 28-14 run to take a 14-point lead (38-24) with 1:13 left in the opening half.
The first half would end with South Carolina State holding a 39-26 edge over Delaware State.
DSU pushes the game into overtime!
The Hornets would get some momentum going their way in the early minutes of the second half, as the team outscored the Bulldogs 16-7 to cut the lead to four points (46-42) with 14:16 left in the game. The trio of Jevin Muniz, Brandon Stone, and sophomore guard Corey Perkins would score 13 of the team’s 16 points.
Fast forward to the 8:24 minute mark, where Davion Everett would get a layup to go in to give South Carolina State an 11-point lead (65-54).
Starting at the 7:49 minute mark, DSU would climb back into this match, as the team would dart off on a 17-6 run to tie the game at 71. Martaz Robinson and Stone scored ten of the Hornets’ 17 points during that time.
The tied score would mean two halves were not enough to get a winner, as the two teams would head into overtime.
Delaware State wins 88-85 in OT!
Overtime would start with DSU buzzing off on a 10-2 to run, which would allow the team to take an 81-73 advantage with 1:03 remaining in the game. Brandon Stone had the hot hand during this time, as he scored six of the Hornets’ ten points.
Fast forward to the seven-second mark in overtime, where Rakeim Gary would drain a three-point shot to slice the lead to one point (86-85).
Delaware State’s Khyrie Staten would go to the free throw line with two seconds left and make the two foul shots to seal a 88-85 victory over the Bulldogs.
