Alexis Moragne scores 21 points in Delaware State’s 68-60 win over Maryland Eastern Shore

Delaware State would lead by seven points at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with the Hornets jumping out to an 11-2 advantage with 5:55 left in the opening quarter. Freshman Deyonce Thompson and Alexis Moragne scored nine of DSU’s 11 points during that run.

For the rest of the first quarter, Delaware State would add five more points to their total to hold a 16-9 lead.

The Hornets would continue to start the early minutes of a quarter fast, as the team outscored the Hawks 11-6 to push their edge to 12 points (27-15) with 5:12 remaining in the first half.

DSU’s defense was solid during this time, as they had three defensive rebounds and one steal.

Fifty-five seconds later, Maryland Eastern Shore would start to climb back in this game, as they went on a 12-2 run to cut the lead to two points (29-27) with 2:19 left in the second quarter.

Starting at the 1:09 minute mark, DSU would score seven straight points to expand their advantage to 36-27 at the end of the first half. Freshman guard/forward Savannah Brooks and Alexis Moragne would score all seven points during that run.

The defense was able to swipe the ball away from the Hawks two times during that time.

The Hornets would lead by 13 at the end of the third quarter.

Delaware State would continue its pattern of starting off hot early in a quarter, as the team dashed off on a 14-6 run to grab a 50-33 lead with 2:22 remaining in the third period. Alexis Moragne would score eight of the Hornets’ 14 points during that time.

Starting at the 1:40 minute mark, the Hawks would score four straight points to cut the deficit to 13 points (50-37) at the end of the third quarter.

Delaware State wins 68-60!

Fast forward to the 5:45 minute mark in the fourth quarter, where Sophomore Breionna Dodson made a jump shot to give DSU a 17-point edge (58-41).

At the 3:52 minute mark, Maryland Eastern Shore would outscore Delaware State 19-10, but the Hornets would hold on to win 68-60!
