Alexis Harrison earns 1,000 point milestone and Head Coach Bethann Burke notches 100th career win in Goldey-Beacom’s 90-61 victory over Bridgeport

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 14 points at the end of the first quarter.

The game would start with the Lightning jumping out to a quick 10-2 advantage with 6:43 left in the opening quarter. Goldey-Beacom was on target from the three-point line in the run, as Rory Ciszkowski and senior forward Alanna Speaks each drained one.

GBC’s defense was solid during that time, as they had three defensive rebounds and one block.

Nineteen seconds later, the Lightning would outscore Bridgeport 16-10 to end the first quarter with a 26-12 lead. Ciszkowski continued to be hot from the three-point line as she would make two from downtown during that time.

Lightning would lead by 20 points at the end of the first half.

The second quarter would start with Goldey-Beacom dashing off on a 13-6 run to extend their advantage to 39-18 with 4:24 left in first half. Mone Izumi and Janiya Stevens would score eight of the Lightning’s 13 points during that time.

GBC’s defense was also sharp during the run, as they had three steals and four defensive rebounds.

For the rest of the second quarter, the Lightning would add five more points to their total to take a 44-24 lead into halftime.

Goldey-Beacom would lead by 26 points after the end of the third quarter.

GBC would continue to cruise in the early minutes of the second half as the team outscored the Purple Knights 20-12 to push their advantage to 28 (64-36) with 4:28 remaining in the third quarter. Alexis Harrison scored ten of the Lightning’s 20 points during the run.

The defense continued to be solid as they collected four defensive rebounds and two steals during that time.

For the rest of the third quarter, GBC would add nine points to their total to expand their advantage to 73-47.

Lightning wins 90-61!

Fast forward to the 4:06 minute mark in the fourth quarter, where Janiya Stevens would get a layup to go in to give Goldey-Beacom an 83-55 lead.

The Lightning would add seven more points to their score for the rest of the fourth quarter to seal a dominating 90-61 victory over Bridgeport.
