Goldey-Beacom would lead by nine after one-quarter of play.

The intensity of this game was high from the tip-off, as the lead changed hands seven times and was tied four times in the first five minutes and 85 seconds of the opening period. The last bucket during that time came from the Lightning’s Alexis Harrison, who drained a jumper to give her team a 15-14 advantage with 4:15 left in the first quarter.

Starting at the 3:51 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would rattle off eight straight points to extend their lead to 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lightning would lead by 13 points after one half of play.

In the first two minutes of the second quarter, GBC would be on fire from the three-point line, as the team hit three of them during that time. Alanna Speaks drained two of the Lightning’s three shots from the three-point line on the run. With the barrage of three-pointers, Goldey was sitting with a 12-point advantage (32-20) with 8:02 remaining in the first half.

Sixty-three seconds later, the Chargers would answer back by dashing off a 10-3 run to pull the lead to five points (35-30) with 4:17 left in the second quarter. The Lightning was not the only team, who could hit from downtown in the second quarter, as Dominican drained two shots from the three-point line during the run.

Goldey-Beacom would not be fazed by the Chargers closing in on them, as the team scored eight unanswered points to take a 43-30 advantage into halftime. Rory Ciszkowski scored six of GBC’s eight points on the run.

The Lightning would hold a 22-point lead after three-quarters of play.

Goldey-Beacom would start the second half off strong by going on a 14-0 run to expand their advantage to 57-30 with 6:21 left in the third quarter. Alexis Harrison would score six of Goldey’s 14 points during that time.

Seconds later, Dominican would go on to outscore the Lightning 16-11 to pull the lead a tad bit closer with a score of 68-46 at the end of the third quarter.

Goldey-Beacom hold on to win 81-75!

The fourth quarter saw the Lightning’s 22-point advantage squander to a four-point one (79-75), as the Chargers outscored the team 29-11 in nine minutes and 53 seconds.

Goldey-Beacom would halt Dominican’s comeback attempt, as the team would go on to win 81-75.
