Blue Hens would trail by two points at the end of the first half.
The first three minutes and 85 seconds in the game would be a battle, and neither could grab a firm lead with the score tied at six.
A few seconds later, Rider would start to pull away a little, as the team went on a 7-1 run to take a 13-7 advantage with 12:18 left in the first half.
Starting at the 11:28 minute mark, the Hens would come flying back as they outscored the Broncs 10-5 to slice the deficit to one point (18-17) with 7:22 remaining in the opening half. Jameer Nelson Jr. scored six of UD’s ten points on the run.
Rider would continue to hold a narrow lead over the Blue Hens, as the team outscored Delaware 12-11 to take a 30-28 advantage into halftime.
Blue Hens win 60-59!
Fast forward to the 15:19 minute mark in the second half, where Jyáre Davis drained a three-point shot to give Delaware a 41-40 lead.
Seconds later, The Broncs would fire back as they outscored the University of Delaware 13-7 to grab a 53-48 advantage with 10:17 left in the game. On this run, Dwight Murray Jr. was feeling it from the three-point line, as he made two shots from there.
The Blue Hens would not take long to answer back, with the team scoring five straight points to tie the game at 53 with 8:19 remaining in the second half. Redshirt junior guard Johnny McCoy and Jameer Nelson Jr. would score all five points on the run.
Starting at the 6:48 minute mark, Rider would go on a 4-0 run to give them a 57-53 edge over Delaware with 6:03 remaining in the game.
Next, at the 4:03 minute mark, Nelson Jr. would continue his scoring ways as he drained a three-point shot to cut the lead to one point (57-56).
A minute and 92 seconds later, Mervin James would hit a layup to put the Broncs up by three points (59-56) with 2:27 left in the second half.
Delaware would answer back with Jyáre Davis getting a layup to go in to cut Rider’s advantage to one point (59-58) with 1:49 remaining in the game.
Fast forward to the four-second mark with the Hens still trailing by one point, and then Davis would miss the jumper for the lead, but Jameer Nelson Jr. was there to gobble up the rebound and hit a putback layup to give the Blue Hens a 60-59 WIN!!
