Jameer Nelson Jr. scores 30 points in Blue Hens 75-64 win over Siena

Blue Hens would lead by five points at the end of the first half.

The game started with Siena running out to a quick 11-3 advantage with 15:44 left in the opening half.

Eighteen seconds later, the Hens would storm back by outscoring the Saints 9-2 to cut the lead to one point (13-12) with 11:23 remaining in the first half. Jameer Nelson Jr. and Ebby Asamoah would score seven of UD’s nine points on the run.

The defense stepped up during this time as they threw Siena out of their rhythm offensively, as they collected four defensive rebounds and stole the ball once.

Starting at the 10:15 minute mark, the University of Delaware would continue to find its stride offensively, as the team outscored the Saints 21-15 to end the first half with a 33-28 advantage. Nelson, LJ Owens, and Jyáre Davis would score 19 of the Hens’ 21 points during that time.

The Hens would have a 9-0 run during this stretch, with the hot hands of Owens, Davis, and Nelson all scoring.

The defense would be stout during the run, as they created extra possessions for the offense by stealing the ball four times, blocking the ball once, and collecting six defensive rebounds.

Hens win 75-64!

The University of Delaware would not lose its momentum from the late minutes of the first half, with the team opening the second by outscoring the Saints 9-4 to push their lead to ten (42-32) with 16:52 left in the game. The duo of Jyáre Davis and Jameer Nelson Jr. would score all nine points on the run.

The defense would continue to create turnovers in this game, as they had three steals during that time.

Twenty-four seconds later, Siena would respond by dashing off on a 9-3 run to close the Hens’ advantage by four points (45-41) with 13:08 remaining in the second half. Jackson Stormo scored six of the Saints’ nine points during that stretch.

Fast forward to the 9:39 minute mark, where Jyáre Davis drained a jump shot to push the Blue Hens’ lead to 53-43 with 9:39 left in the game.

As minutes passed by in the final half of this game, UD would continue to pour on the points, as Jameer Nelson would hit the bucket hard with a slam dunk at the 51-second mark to put his team up 12 (73-61).

The Hens would close the game out with another dunk, but this time from LJ Owens, who would help seal a 75-64 victory over the Saints.
