Delaware would lead by 11 points at the end of the first half.
The game started with the Wildcats jumping out a quick 5-2 advantage with 16:57 left in the opening half.
In the next three minutes and 20 seconds, The Blue Hens would outscore Davidson 12-2 to take a 14-7 lead with 13:37 remaining in the first half. The trio of Jameer Nelson Jr., LJ Owens, and Jyáre Davis would score all 12 points on the run. Nelson Jr. and Owens each drained a three-point shot during that time.
Fast forward to the 4:06 minute mark, where the Wildcats’ Connor Kochera would step to the free-throw line and drain all three of his shots to slice his team’s deficit to three points (22-19).
The University of Delaware would answer back by flying off on a 12-4 run to close out the first half with a 34-23 advantage. Davis would score six of the Blue Hens’ 12 points during that time.
Blue Hens hang on to win 69-67!
Davidson would come out of halftime on a mission, as the team outscored UD 14-6 to cut the lead to three points (40-37) with 12:57 left in the second half.
The Hens would push back by going on a 16-7 run, which extended the team’s advantage to 56-44 with 7:26 left in the game. Jyáre Davis and Jameer Nelson Jr. would score 13 of the 16 points during that time. Davis scored the team’s first seven points on the run, and Nelson Jr. made two shots from the three-point line.
Delaware’s defense was solid during that time, as they had one block, one steal, and collected three defensive rebounds.
Starting at the 6:58 minute mark, the Wildcats started to heat up as the team would outscore the Hens 23-13, but the comeback attempt would fail, with the Blue Hens hanging on to win 69-67.
