Blue Hens would lead by 13 at the end of the first half.
Just like in yesterday’s win, the Delaware defense was hot in the early minutes of this game, as they grabbed three steals and two defensive rebounds. The Hens’ offense also came out strong as they took an 11-4 lead with 15:52 left in the opening half. LJ Owens and Jameer Nelson Jr. scored nine of the Hens’ 11 points on the run.
In the next five minutes and 26 seconds, the Hawks would outscore UD 10-6 to pull the lead within three points (17-14) with 10:35 remaining in the first half.
Shortly after, the Blue Hens would answer back by dashing off on a 15-3 run to push their advantage to 32-17 with 5:32 left in the opening half. The trio of Redshirt sophomore forward Jyáre Davis, Nelson Jr., and Gianmarco Arletti would score 13 of the 15 points during that time.
Starting at the 3:33 minute mark, Hartford would outscore the University of Delaware by two (7-5) to close the lead to 13 (37-24) at the end of the first half.
Delaware wins 78-50!
The Hens would continue to pour on the points in the second half, as the team came out of the half outscoring the Hawks 14-8. That run would extend their advantage to 51-32 with 13:57 left in the game. LJ Owens was the Blue Hens leading scorer on that run by six of the 14 points.
Delaware would remain sharp in the next five minutes and 77 seconds, as the team outscored Hartford 14-5 to give them a 28-point cushion with 7:33 remaining in the game. On this run, the Blue Hens were feeling it from the three-point line as they drained shots from there.
Delaware would close the game out by adding 13 more points to their score to seal a 78-50 win over the Hawks.
