5-0: Blue Hens offense & defense flex their muscles in 24-10 win over Towson

Defense dominates the first quarter, with the score all tied at zero.

The scoreboard stayed silent in the first quarter as the defensive play on both teams was solid as they forced a combined four punts and two stops on downs.

Blue Hens lead by 11 at the end of the first half.

Towson would be the team to wake the scoreboard up, as on their first drive in the second quarter, the Tigers would march 58 yards on 14 plays to end the series with a made field goal to give them a 3-0 lead with 7:26 left in the first half.

The key player on the scoring drive for Towson was starting quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome, who had 16 yards passing and rushed for 26 yards.

It would not take Delaware very long to respond to the Tigers’ score, as on their next drive, the team drove 75 yards down the field in two plays to end with running back Kyron Cumby speeding off on a 65-yard touchdown to run to give his team a 7-3 advantage with 6:38 remaining in the second quarter.

Blue Hens win 24-3!

Fast forward to the 12:25 minute mark in the fourth quarter, as the Tigers would hold possession of the ball. On the third play of the drive, their quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome would be intercepted by the University of Delaware’s defensive back Kedrick Whitehead, who would take the ball to Towson’s 48-yard line.

Delaware’s offense did not waste the good field position they were given as they drove 41 yards on eight plays to end with a made field goal to extend their lead to 24-3 with 8:38 left in the game.

The highlight play on the drive came on the second play when Nolan Henderson found senior wide receiver Brett Buckman for 26 yards to set the team up at Towson’s 22-yard line.
