Blue Hens lead by 14 at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with Hampton getting possession of the ball first, but their drive did not last long as the team only had nine yards on three plays before they had to punt to the Hens.

Delaware’s first drive would start at their own 29-yard line with 13:14 left in the first quarter. Unlike Hampton, the Hens would make something of their possession of the ball, as the team drove 71 yards down the field in ten plays to end with quarterback Nolan Henderson finding wide receiver Thyrick Pitts for the 15-yard touchdown to give their team a 7-0 lead with 9:37 left in the first quarter.

Henderson also did not miss many of his targets during that drive as he found four different wide receivers for 57 yards.

Not only did Pitts catch a touchdown on the drive, but he became the ninth Blue Hens player to surpass 2,000 career receiving yards.

On the Pirates’ first three drives in the quarter, the University of Delaware defense had shut down their offense with drives, only lasting five plays and under.

Hampton’s fourth drive would end with the same result as on the third play of their series, the Hens defensive back Amonte’ Strothers would intercept the ball and take it to the Pirates’ 34-yard line.

Delaware would not waste the short field as the team marched 34 yards in five plays to end with Henderson once again finding Pitts, but this time for an eight-yard touchdown, which gave the team a 14-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

Hens lead by 28 points after three quarters.

In the second quarter, both defenses clamped down as neither team could put a consistent drive together to get into the endzone.

After halftime, that would all change as the University of Delaware found the spark in the offense and would score on their first drive of the third quarter.

The Hens’ drive started at their own 30-yard line, and the team marched 70 yards on five plays to end with quarterback Nolan Henderson throwing a 36-yard bomb to wide receiver Jourdan Townsend for the touchdown to extend their team’s lead to 21-0 with 12:48 left in the third quarter.

Other than the touchdown pass, another highlight was when senior running back Kyron Cumby ran for 18 yards on the first play of the drive.

After the Pirates’ drive ended with a missed field goal attempt, the Blue Hens offense would go to work on their own 25-yard line with 6:51 remaining in the third quarter.

The University of Delaware would drive 75 yards down the field in 11 plays to end with Henderson finding Thyrick Pitts for his third touchdown of the day to push their advantage to 28-0 with 1:46 left in the third quarter.

The Blue Hens quarterback was continuing to find his targets with ease as he found three different wide receivers on the drive for 50 yards.

Blue Hens win 35-3!

After not being able to put points on the scoreboard for three quarters, Hampton would finally change that as they used their short field to their advantage to get a field goal to cut the lead to 28-3 with 11:55 left in the game.

Delaware would quickly answer back by marching 74 yards on nine plays to end with quarterback Nolan Henderson finding running back Marcus Yarns for the short touchdown to expand their lead to 35-3 with 7:54 left in the fourth quarter.

Henderson continued his hot streak on the drive by hitting four targets for 57 yards.

The Blue Hens defense would take care of the rest of the game as the team grabbed one interception and forced the Pirates to punt, which would seal a dominating 35-3 win.
