Blue Hens score two goals in the first period.
The scoring took some time in this game as the defense for both teams was strong, and the board stayed scoreless until the 25:53 minute mark of the first period.
The University of Delaware would start the game by getting two of the goal attempts blocked by the Hornets’ goalkeeper Ashley Maribo. The team would finally get one through when Sarah D’Appolonia would push through the first score in the game at the 25:53 minute mark. D’Appolonia’s goal was assisted by Izzy Lane.
The Blue Hens would not waste any time adding to their lead as, almost a minute later, Raychel Speicher headed in the next goal for the team. Lane would have the second assist of the day on that score.

In the second period, the Hens would continue to increase the lead by Sarah D’Appolonia scoring her second goal of the night at the 67-minute mark to give her team a 3-0 advantage. Raychel Speicher and Izzy Lane would assist on D’Appolonia’s goal.
