The University of Delaware men’s basketball team clinched their ticket to the CAA Championship game on Monday as the team defeated the Towson University Tigers 69-56 in the semifinals. The Blue Hens will take on UNCW for the CAA Championship title on Tuesday.
Fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson was the leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win as he scored 17 points.
Three other Blue Hens players who scored in double digits were redshirt freshman Jyare Davis (14), graduate student forward Dylan Painter (12), and junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr. (11).
Sophomore forward Andrew Carr was on top of the boards all night as he collected 11 rebounds.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points off of turnovers (13-11), bench points (18-10), assists (13-7), turnovers (11-13), and blocks (4-3).
Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 44.9 % (22-49) and with Towson shooting 31.0% (18-58). The Hens bested the Tigers from the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 31.6 %%(6-19) and Towson shooting 17.4 %(4-23). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game as the team shot 76.0%(19-25), and the Tigers shot 72.7% (16-22).
