Blue Hens down by three points after one-quarter of play
The game would start with Delaware flying off to a 7-2 advantage with 6:04 left in the first quarter. Ty Battle, Jasmine Dickey, and Lizzie Oleary would account for all seven points on the run.
One minute and 45 seconds later, Elon’s Ajia James would drain back-to-back three-pointers to give her team an 8-7 lead with 4:32 remaining in the first quarter.
The Phoenix would outscore the Blue Hens 7-5 for the rest of the first quarter to end with a 15-12 lead.
Delaware leads by four points at the end of the first half
The University of Delaware would once again open up a quarter fast as the team went on a 13-4 run to take a 25-19 lead with 3:03 remaining in the first half. The trio of Jasmine Dickey, sophomore guard Tyi Skinner, and Lizzie Oleary would score all 13 points on the run. Ty Battle and senior guard/forward Makayla Pippin also had an impact on this run as they each had one rebound, and one steal.
At the 2:36 minute mark, Elon would start on a 6-2 run, which cut the lead to two points (27-25) with 44 seconds left in the first half.
As the seconds slipped by in the first half, Jasmine Dickey would make two free throws to push the Blue Hens lead back up to four points (29-25).
Hens up by four points at the end of the third quarter
In the first seven minutes of the second half, the game was tight as the Phoenix would come within two points of the lead three times during that time. The last time Elon came within two points of Delaware’s lead during that time was when Brie Perpignan made two free throw shots to cut the lead to 38-36 with 3:19 remaining in the third quarter.
Starting at the 2:10 minute mark, the University of Delaware would outscore the Phoenix 6-4 to end the third quarter with a 44-40 lead.
Blue Hens win 65-61!
The fourth quarter would start with the Blue Hens dashing out to an 11-7 run, which gave the team a 55-47 lead with 5:29 left in the game. Jasmine Dickey would score eight of the 11 points during the run.
Starting at the 3:40 minute mark, Elon would go on a 9-2 run to trim the lead to one point (57-56) with 1:49 remaining in the game.
Thirty-six seconds later, Delaware would outscore the Phoenix 8-5 to seal a 65-61 win!
