Blue Hens lead by five points after one-quarter of play
In the first three minutes of the opening quarter, it would be the Blue Hens who would fly out to a fast start by taking a 7-1 lead with 7:25 left in the first quarter. Jasmine Dickey would score all seven points on the run. Dickey also surpassed the 1,500 points milestone during this time.
Starting at the 6:34 minute mark, James Madison would start to roll as the team outscored Delaware 11-5 to tie the score at 12 with 2:02 left in the first quarter.
Seconds later, Dickey would end the first quarter by scoring five straight points to give the Hens a 17-12 lead. The guard/forward also had one block and two rebounds during that time.
Delaware up by eight points at the end of the first half
In the first three minutes of the second quarter, the Blue Hens would dash out on an 11-2 run, which gave the team a 28-14 lead with 7:06 left in the first half. The duo of Ty Battle and Tyi Skinner would score seven of the 11 points on the run.
Starting at the 5:46 minute mark, the Dukes would fight back as the team went on an 8-2 run to go into halftime down by eight points (30-22).
Blue Hens hold on to a four-point lead after three quarters
Fast forward to the 4:28 minute mark in the third quarter, where the Hens outscored James Madison 9-6 to take a 39-28 lead. During that time, Jasmine Dickey had four points, one rebound, one block, and one steal.
Seconds later, the Dukes would roar back with an 11-4 run, which pulled the lead within four points (43-39) after three-quarters of play.
Delaware wins 64-57!
In the first five minutes of the final quarter, the Blue Hens would fly out on a 10-4 run, which pushed their lead to 53-43 with 5:23 remaining in the game. The leader of this run was Tyi Skinner, who scored five of the ten points. Rebounding was a factor on the run as the team collected six rebounds. Delaware’s defense stepped up during that run as the team had two steals and one block.
Four seconds later, James Madison would come bouncing back as the team went on an 18-4 run to cut the lead to four points (61-57) with 33 seconds left in the game.
As seconds ticked off the clock, Ty Battle would make three free throw shots to seal a 64-57 win for the Blue Hens.
