Goldey-Beacom leads by two points after one-quarter of play
In the first four minutes of the opening quarter, the Lightning would come striking first as the team took a 7-2 lead with 6:04 left in the first quarter. Briana Seltzer was on fire during this run as she scored five of the seven points.
About a minute later, Wilmington would start to get rolling as the team scored six straight points to give the team an 8-7 lead with 2:54 left in the first quarter.
Eighteen seconds later, Goldey-Beacom would outscore the Wildcats 7-4 to end the first quarter with a 14-12 lead.
Lightning takes ten-point lead into halftime
In the first three minutes of the second quarter, Goldey-Beacom would dash out to a 9-2 run, which extended their lead to 23-14 with 7:22 left in the first half. The impact player on this run was Alexis Harrison, who had four points, two steals, and one assist.
Almost six minutes later, Wilmington would outscore the Lightning 6-4 to cut the lead to seven points (27-20) with 1:36 left in the second quarter.
Seconds later, Goldey-Beacom would go on a 5-2 run to end the first half with a 32-22 lead. Junior guard Mone Izumi may have not scored on the run, but she made an impact as she had two assists, and one steal.
Goldey-Beacom holds a 14 point lead after three-quarters of play
In the first four minutes of the second half, the Wildcats would come out looking like a reenergized team, as they went on a 10-3 run to cut the lead to three points ( 35-32) with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter.
Starting at the 4:49 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would go on a 17-6 run, which pushed their lead to 52-38 at the end of the third quarter. The trio of Briana Seltzer, Alexis Harrison, and Mickey Williams would score 13 of the 17 points on the run. The defense swiped two steals on the run.
Lightning win 74-53!
Fast forward to the 6:29 minute mark in the final quarter as the Lightning would hold a 19 point lead ( 63-44) over the Wildcats. The three-point shot was big for Goldey-Beacom in the early minutes of the fourth quarter as the team made three. Mickey Williams would make two shots from the three-point line and junior guard Lexi Weikert made one.
Starting at the 5:34 minute mark, the Lighting would outscore Wilmington 11-9 to seal a 74-53 win!
