Goldey-Beacom down by two points after one half of play
In the opening minutes of this game, the Lightning would fly off to a 10-2 lead with 16:40 left in the first half. Juran Ligonde was the leader of this run as he scored seven of the ten points.
Fifteen seconds later, Saint Rose would also go on a 10-2 run, which would tie the game at 12 with 14:26 left in the first half.
Starting at the 12:56 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would begin on a 6-1 run, which gave the team a five-point lead (18-13) with 12:19 left in the first half. The duo of sophomore guard Nazim Derry and Ligonde would score all six points.
Nine seconds later, the Golden Knights would outscore Goldey-Beacom College 8-3 to tie the game at 21 with 10:28 left in the first half.
In the next seven minutes and twenty-two seconds, the Lightning could not get Saint Rose off their back as their biggest lead during this time was three points. The Golden Knights would tie the game up twice during this time, which the final time came when Tray Alexander drained a three-pointer to even the score at 36 with 3:06 left until halftime.
At the 2:22 minute mark, Saint Rose would go on to score seven straight points to give the team a 43-36 lead with 1:20 left in the first half.
Goldey-Beacom would close the first half by scoring five straight points, which would cut the lead to two points (43-41).
Lightning win 73-71!
The second half started with the Golden Knights outscoring the Lightning 10-6 to take a six-point lead (53-47) with 12:49 left in the game.
Starting at the 11:31 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would score 12 straight points, which gave them a 59-53 lead with 8:48 left in the game. The duo of Zack Oree and Juran Ligonde would score all 12 points on the run. Rebounding was also a factor on the run as the team collected seven rebounds.
Seconds later, Saint Rose would score five unanswered points to cut the lead one point (59-58) with 6:18 left in the game.
The Golden Knights were not done yet, as the team outscored the Lightning 6-4 in the next three minutes to take a 64-63 lead with 3:52 left in the game.
At the 2:50 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom College would go on a 6-2 run, which gave the team a 69-63 lead with 45 seconds left in the game. Freshman forward Kevon Ferguson would be the leader of this run as he scored four of the six points.
Saint Rose would not go down without a fight as the team would make it a one-point game (69-68) on their next possession, but the Lightning would make four straight free throw shots to give them a 73-68 lead with five seconds left in the game. The last shot of the game came from the Golden Knights as the team hit a three-pointer, but Goldey-Beacom would still hang on to win 73-71.
