CACC Quarterfinals: Walk Off winner sends Wildcats to Semifinals

The Wilmington University softball team is moving on to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinals as the team had a wild finish with a walk-off 7-6 win over the Caldwell University Cougars on Friday. The Wildcats started the seventh inning trailing by two runs but would score three runs to seal a comeback win.

Game Stats:

The RBIs in the game came from senior shortstop Alyssa Velasquez (1), freshman pitcher/infielder Haley Downin (1), junior third baseman Lauren Lopez (1), and freshman center fielder Isabella Eleazar (1).

Six Wildcats had runs in the win, which were freshman right fielder Sara Miller (2), Velasquez (1), Downin (1), freshman pitcher/infielder Renamarie Rocha (1), senior catcher Annie Davila (1), and Eleazar (1).

The Wilmington hitters gained 11 hits in the win, which were Miller (2), Velasquez (2), Downin (1), Lopez (1), Davila (2), Eleazar (1),sophomore designated player Kiersten Comer (1), and freshman first baseman Arianna Millan (1).

Eleazar stole a base in the win.

On the pitching side, starting pitcher Haley Downin went three innings, gave up three hits, three runs, three earned runs, one walk, and one strikeout.

Freshman pitcher Alexandra Ballester in for Downin as she went 3.2 innings, gave up six hits, three runs, three earned runs, and three strikeouts.

Freshman pitcher Molly Dill would finish the game out for the Wildcats as she went 0.1 innings and earned the win.
