Lighting strikes first in the third inning
The starting pitchers of both teams came out strong in this game as neither lineup scored in the first two innings, but Goldey-Beacom would change that in the third inning.
Mason Maxwell would get the action on the bases started in the top of the third inning as he earned a walk to the first base.
Marshall Awtry would be the next batter up as he would hit a two-run home run down the left-field line, which gave the Lightning a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

Goldey-Beacom wins 4-1
In the top of the sixth inning, Goldey would add two more runs to their lead to give the team a 4-0 advantage.
Kyle Walker was the first batter to get on base for the Lightning in the inning as he hit a single to left field.
The two runs in the inning came when Trent Hearn hit a two-run home run to the right field, which pushed Goldey-Beacom’s lead to 4-0.

After pitching six scoreless innings, Goldey’s starting pitcher Jake Heskett hit a minor bump in the seventh as he allowed one run, which cut the lead to 4-1.
Heskett’s day would be over after the seventh inning as he gave up seven hits, one run, one earned run, three walks, two strikeouts, hit two batters, and earned the win.
Kevin Roll came in for Heskett as he went one inning, gave up one hit, one walk, and one strikeout.
In the ninth inning, Jake Kinsell would come out to seal the 4-1 win as he gave up two walks, two strikeouts, and earned the save.
