Delaware Tech gets one run in the second inning

The scoreboard in the first inning was silent as the pitchers on both teams made easy work of the batters they each faced.

In the second inning, the scoreboard would not be silent anymore as Delaware Tech would get the first run of the game on the board.

The inning did not start so well for Delaware Technical Community College as the team had two outs, with Michael Pagliei coming up to bat. Pagliei would get on base from an error from Anne Arundel’s second baseman. The Del-Tech second baseman would then advanced to third base from a passed ball.

Matthew Rodriguez would be the next batter up for Delaware Tech as he would hit a single, which would score Pagliei and give their team a 1-0 lead.

Del-Tech adds another run in the fifth inning

The top of the fifth inning started with Michael Pagliei hitting a double to left field, and he would then advance to third base on a wild pitch.

After Pagliei got on base, the next Delaware Tech batter Matthew Rodriguez would get on base with a walk.

Two batters later, Dominic Fernicola would hit a two-out single to left field, which would score Pagliei and give Delaware Tech a 2-0 lead.

Anne Arundel would end their silence on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth inning as Parker Jones grounded out to the shortstop, but Cam Rees was waiting at third base to score, which cut the lead to 2-1.

Anne Arundel takes the lead in the sixth inning

The next score for Anne Arundel came when Cam Rees hit a two-out single, which would allow Lennie Lehner and Ian Adams to score to give their team a 3-2 lead in the top of the sixth inning.

Delaware Tech ties in the seventh inning

Michael Pagliei was a busy man on the bases today as in top of the eighth inning, he reached first base by a throwing error from the third baseman.

A couple of batters later, Christopher Friend would hit a two-out double which would score Pagliei and tie the game up at three runs.

The seventh inning would be the last inning for Delaware Tech’s pitcher Nicholas Carey as he went seven innings, gave up four hits, three runs, one earned run, two walks, struck out nine batters, and earned the win.

Marandola homers in the eighth inning

Matthew Marandola was the third batter in the top of the eighth inning as he hit a two-out solo home run to give Delaware Tech a 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Brandon Schlabach came in the game to relieve Nicholas Carey, and he had no problem shutting down the Anne Arundel hitters. Schlabach went one inning, one strikeout, and earned the save.
