Hens down by three points after one-quarter of play
The game started with the Dragons blasting off to an 11-6 lead with 5:43 left in the first quarter. Seconds later, Blue Hens would answer back with a 9-3 run of their own, which gave them a one-point lead (15-14) with 2:15 left in the first quarter.
The duo of Ty Battle and redshirt junior guard/forward Chyna Latimer would score seven of the nine points on the run. Rebounding was also a key on this run as Delaware collected seven rebounds.
In the last two minutes of the first quarter, Drexel would score four straight points to take an 18-15 lead into the second quarter.
Blue Hens lead by six points at the end of the first half
Nearly five minutes in the second quarter, the Hens defense would make sure the Dragons lead did not grow as the team had two steals, one block, and three defensive rebounds. The strong defensive effort had Delaware only behind by one point (21-20) at the 5:51 minute mark.
Starting at the 4:21 minute mark, the Blue Hens would go on a 9-2 run, which gave the team a 29-23 lead to end the first half. One of the highlights on this run came from Chyna Latimer, who drained a three-point shot with 44 seconds left to give her team a 29-23 lead. The defense continued to play strong on this run as the Hens had five defensive rebounds and two steals.
Six of the Hens 14 points in the second quarter came within the paint.
Delaware leads by two points after three-quarters of play
The Blue Hens would come flying out in the early minutes of the second half as the team went on an 8-2 run, which pushed their lead to 37-25 with 5:31 left in the third quarter. The leader of this run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored six of the eight points.
About a minute later, the Dragons would start a 12-1 run of their own, which cut the lead to one point (38-37) with 1:26 left in the third quarter.
Starting at the 1:11 minute mark, Delaware would outscore Drexel 4-1 to end the third quarter with a 42-38 lead.
Hens win by 11
The Blue Hens were ready to pull away from the Dragons in the fourth quarter as the team went on a 15-9 run, which expanded their lead to 57-47 with 2:09 left in the game. The leader of this run was Jasmine Dickey, who scored eight of the 15 points. The defense once again played a huge part in the run as they had two steals and five defensive rebounds.
At the 1:32 minute mark, Delaware would outscore Drexel 9-8, which would seal a 66-55 victory over the Dragons.
