Dickey’s double-double helps Blue Hens Cruise past William&Mary

Hens up by six points after one-quarter of play

The game started with William & Mary running out to a quick 6-2 lead, but Delaware would quickly answer back with a 5-0 run to grab a 7-6 lead with 5:32 left in the first quarter. A key to the 5-0 run was rebounding as the Hens collected four rebounds.

Starting at the 3:44 minute mark, the Blue Hens would continue to heat up as the team went on a 9-4 run, which gave them a 16-10 lead at the end of the quarter. The leader of this run was Jasmine Dickey, as she scored all nine points.

Eight of the Hens 16 points came from turning the Tribe’s six turnovers into points.

Blue Hens lead by 22 at the half

The second quarter started with Delaware flying off to a 21-7 run, which extended their lead to 37-17 with 2:05 left in the first half. During the 21-7 run, Chyna Latimer hit two shots from the three-point line for the Hens. Rebounding was also a key on the run, with the team collecting 13 rebounds.

In the last two minutes of the first half, the Blue Hens would outscore William & Mary 4-2 to take a 41-19 lead.

Fourteen of Delaware’s 25 points in the second quarter came from within the paint.

Hens lead by 24 after three-quarters of play

In the first seven minutes of the second half, the Tribe would outscore the Blue Hens 10-8, which cut the lead to 20 points (49-29) with 3:26 left in the third quarter.

At the 2:57 minute mark, Delaware would outscore William & Mary 8-4, which expanded the lead to 57-33 at the end of the third quarter. The duo of Jasmine Dickey and senior guard Tee Johnson would combine to score all eight points on the run.

Delaware wins by 24

In the first six minutes of the fourth quarter, Delaware would continue to add to their large lead as the team went on a 13-7 run to push their lead to 70-40 with 4:42 left in the game. Six of the Hens 13 points on the run came from the three-point line, which would be made by Tyi Skinner and Chyna Latimer.

Starting at the 4:07 minute mark, the Tribe would go on a 15-9 run, but it was too little and too late as the Blue Hens sailed to a 79-55 win.
