Blue Hens Selected To WNIT; Will Face Georgetown Friday

University of Delaware Women’s Basketball season is not over just yet, the team was selected Monday to compete in the WNIT.

This is the Blue Hens first post season appearance since 2014 and that is thanks to first year head coach Natasha Adair who brought the passion and fight back to this team.

Adair had this to say about the Hens making it to the WNIT:

“Our team is still hungry and wanting for more! This postseason opportunity gives us another chance to compete for a championship. Blue Hen Nation, let’s get loUD!”

The Hens (19-12) will face Georgetown (15-15)  in the first round of the WNIT on Friday at 7 pm.

Georgetown is quite a familiar team to Hens head coach Natasha Adair who was the head coach there 2014 to 2017.

Delaware is 3-4 all time vs the Hoyas and this will be the first time both teams played each other in the postseason.

Both teams fell in the semifinals in their conference tournaments.

Blue Hens fell to Drexel 58-53 in overtime in the CAA Tournament semifinals and Georgetown fell to DePaul in Big East Tournament semifinals.

Two other teams from the CAA made to the WNIT and they were Drexel ( automatic qualifying bid) and James Madison ( at large bid).
