Blue Hens Ryan Allen Named CAA Rookie Of The Year; Ryan Daly Picked To Third Team All-CAA

The Colonial Athletic Association announced on Friday that University of Delaware freshman guard Ryan Allen was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Year.

Allen was also chosen for the All-CAA Rookie team which makes him only the ninth Blue Hen to earn that honor.

Also,  sophomore guard Ryan Daly was named to Third Team All-CAA.

Allen is the fifth Blue Hen to earn CAA Rookie of the Year honors and the second in a row as Ryan Daly won it last season. Delaware is now the second school in CAA history to earn consecutive CAA Rookie of the Year honors, along with George Mason in 1994 and 1995.

In the conference, Allen ranked 15th in points per game with 15.3, 36th in total points with 459, 3rd in three point field goals with 86 and fifth in minutes per game with 35.7.

On the Blue Hens this season, Allen ranked second in points per game with 15.3, second in total points with 459 points, second in field goals made with 163 and first in three pointers made with 86.

Allen reached in double digits in 15 straight games at one point in the season and had six 20 point games.

Allen made a three pointer in every game he played this year for the Hens.

The Bowie, MD native was three 3 pointers shy of Delaware’s single season mark and second most by a CAA freshman in league history. Also, Allen had the fifth most among Division I freshmen this season.

Then we have Blue Hens guard Ryan Daly who earned All-CAA third team for the second straight year.

In the conference, Daly ranked 10th in point per game with 17.5, 12th in total points with 489, 16th in total assists with 67 and second minutes per game with 37.5.

On the Blue Hens this season, Daly ranked first in total points with 489, first in points per game with 17.5, first with 178 field goals made and second in three points made with 46.

Daly reached double digits in every game but one this season.

The Blue Hen guard already has 954 points in his career which ranks 38th in school history and is the third Blue Hen to pass the 900 point mark in two seasons.
