Wilmington University’s LaShyra Williams and Tyaire Ponzo-Meek both lead their respective teams to multiple victories last week and that is why the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference named both of them CACC’s players of the week on Monday.
Junior LaShyra Williams picks up her third CACC player of the week honor this season, she led the women’s team to wins vs Nyack and Georgian Court last week.Williams had a great night of shooting vs Georgian Court by registering a team-high 25 points and going 10 for 11 from the foul line. In the game vs Nyack, Williams was had the shooting touch again registering 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assist on the night.
The Seaford, Delaware native averaged 23 points per game, 53.8 FG%, 6.5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks last week. Williams is 6th in the CACC in scoring with averaging 15.9 points per game on the season.
Then we have Senior Tyaire Ponzo-Meek who just like Williams is picking his third CACC player of the week honor. Ponzo-Meek had the magic touch vs Georgian Court where had 26 points and went 7 for 8 from the three point line. In the next game vs Nyack, Ponzo-Meek was still on fire with the shooting registering 31 points, hit 11 of 12 shots from the field and 4 for 5 from the three point line.
Ponzo-Meek averaged 28.5 points per game, 83.3 FG%, 84.6 % from the three point line, 5 rebounds and 4 assists last week. The senior guard is third in the CACC with averaging 20 points per game.
