The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a split on Saturday with a 16-4 victory in game two of the doubleheader over the Dominican University of New York Chargers. They lost the first game 11-4.

Goldey-Beacom leads 10-4 after the end of the fifth inning.
Dominican came out of the gates fast in this game as they slugged a three-run homer in the opening inning to give them a 3-0 edge.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Lightning tightened the deficit to one run (3-2) when senior catcher Joey Current hammered a two-run homer to left field.
Both teams would score off SAC Flys in the third inning, which kept the Chargers ahead by one run (4-3).
Things would change in the bottom of the fifth inning, when GBC broke things open by scoring five runs on two hits, three stolen bases, three walks, two wild pitches, and one error to give them a 10-4 advantage.
Junior infielder Bobby Stewart started the scoring off by smoking a two-run homer to left field.
Then a groundout and a throwing error by the Dominican’s catcher would score the next two runs to make it 9-4.
Freshman outfielder Kaden Barmer wrapped the scoring up in the inning with an RBI single through the left side to extend their lead to 10-4.
The Lightning takes home a 16-4 win!
Goldey-Beacom’s bat did not slow down in the bottom of the sixth, as they scored six runs on six hits, two walks, and one stolen base to seal a 16-4 victory.
It started with Bobby Stewart scoring off of Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Roman Keith‘s RBI single.
Four plays later, Freshman catcher Kevin Dick Jr. hit an RBI single through the left side to take the lead to 12-4.
Junior outfielder Trey Mason came up next and knocked a RBI double down the left field line.
Sophomore Connor Wilson would join the scoring party with a two-run double to put the score at 15-4.
Freshman pitcher/infielder Shawn Roy would wrap up the scoring with an RBI double to left center to give his team a 16-4 win.

Senior pitcher Connor Blence earned the win by going six innings, seven hits, four runs, four earned runs, one walk, and one hit batter.
