The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team keeps chugging along as the team collected its eighth win in a row on Tuesday by defeating the Wilmington University Wildcats 77-73.
Junior guard/forward Emarquis Jones led the team in scoring in the win, with 18 points. He also recorded a double-double with 15 rebounds.
Three other Goldey-Beacom players who scored in double digits in the win were Sophomore guard Tre Powell (14), Senior guard Justin Allen (11), and Junior forward Julian Williams (10).
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included second chance points (26-12), points off of turnovers (14-11), steals (10-4), fast-break points (8-3), bench points (22-21), turnovers (11-12), assists (10-7), rebounds (54-32).
Lightning was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 76.0%(19-25), and the Wildcats shot 65.0% (13-20).

The Lightning struck quickly in this game, jumping out to an 11-4 edge with 17:05 left in the opening half.
Julian Williams led the charge, scoring six of the 11 points, during that stretch.
WilmU punched right back by scoring 12 straight points to take a 16-11 advantage with 11 minutes remaining in the first half.
The intensity of the game picked up in the next six minutes, as the score was tied three times, including at the 4:24 mark when both teams were knotted at 24.
WilmU slightly outscored GBC 8-7 for the rest of the half to grab a 32-31 lead.
The Lightning takes home a 77-73 win!
Fast forward to the 15:07 minute mark, where Junior guard Elisha Brown drained a three-pointer to put GBC up 43-39.
In the next six minutes and 42 seconds, it was a battle between the two teams with the score tied three times, including at the 8:09 mark, knotted at 53.
After that, WilmU found a rhythm and went on a 12-3 run to grab a 65-56 advantage with 6:09 remaining in the game.
Goldey-Beacom stormed back by outscoring the Cats 19-6 to take a 75-71 lead with 1:50 left in the second half. Justin Allen and Emarquis Jones led the charge by scoring 11 of the team’s 16 points.
The Lightning scored two more points to seal a 77-73 win over Wilmington.
