CACC Tournament: Goldey-Beacom picks up Game 2 win over Bridgeport to move on in tourney

The Goldey-Beacom College softball team is moving on in the CACC tournament after taking home a 3-0 win over the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in their second game on Thursday. Goldey-Beacom lost the first game 8-3 versus Wilmington University, forcing the second match. Goldey-Beacom will face the loser of the Wilmington University- Jefferson matchup on Friday.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 3-0 win!

 Junior infielder Autumn Simpson would get the Lightning on the board first in this game with an RBI double down the right field line to give her team a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

In the top of the fourth inning, GBC’s advantage would go to 2-0, when Alesia Doctor scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

Goldey-Beacom’s edge would go to 3-0 when  Senior infielder Alex Lowry pushed home a run with a Sac Fly in the fifth inning.

Pitching Recap:

Senior pitcher Morgan McLane earned the win by pitching seven innings, giving up six hits, three walks, striking out three, and hitting one batter.
