Miller & Moore’s big day helps Wilmington University sweep Post

Game Leaders:

Runs: Taylor Gillis also led the team in runs, with two in the game.

Home Runs: Moore hit a homer in the game.

Stolen bases: Taylor Gillis , Lexi Moore , and Cassidy Zelano led the team with one stolen base in the win.

Game Two Recap:

In the second matchup of the day, the starting pitchers also brought their best stuff out early, as the two only allowed combined two hits in three innings.

Wilmington would get the scoring started in this one, as sophomore catcher/third baseman Emma Zimmerman would push in a run after she grounded out to the third base to give her team a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

In the next inning, junior shortstop/third baseman Lexi Moore would give the Wildcats more of a comfortable edge as she slapped a two-run homer out of the ballpark to extend the team’s advantage to 3-0.

Post would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the lead to 3-1.

Lexi Moore would continue to have the hot bat for WilmU, as she would knock a two-run single to center field to give her team a 5-1 lead in the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Eagles’ Courtney Brobst would hit a solo home run, but Wilmington would still hang on to win 5-2.

Sophomore pitcher Kylee Gunkel pitched seven innings, gave up six hits, two runs, two earned runs, one walk, struck out eight batters, gave up on home run, and earned the win.
