Wilmington leads by two at the end of the first quarter.
It took some time in this game to get points on the board as the first score came at the 6:49 minute mark in the opening quarter when Amber Washington made two free throws to give WilmU a 2-0 advantage.
There would not be much scoring in the first quarter at all, as it would end with Wildcats holding a 6-4 lead.
Wildcats would trail by three points at the end of the first half.
The second quarter would start with WilmU outscoring Goldey-Beacom 9-4 to grab a 15-8 edge with 3:42 left in the first half. Jade Roberts and Amber Washington scored five of the team’s nine points on the run.
Thirteen seconds later, Goldey Beacom would score ten straight points to take an 18-15 advantage into halftime.
The game would be tied at 31 at the end of the third quarter.
Fast forward to the 4:13 minute mark in the third quarter, where Fatou Ndao would hit her second of back-to-back jump shots to give the Wildcats a 26-24 lead.
Two minutes and eight seconds later, Wilmington’s Jade Roberts would get a layup to go in to push her team’s advantage to 30-26 with 2:05 left in the third quarter.
The Lightning would respond by scoring five straight points to end the third quarter with the score tied at 31.
Wilmington wins 52-47!
The fourth quarter would start with the Wildcats dashing off on an 8-3 run, which gave them a 39-34 lead with 6:39 remaining in the game.
Starting at the 3:54 minute mark, The Lightning would strike back by scoring five straight points to tie the game at 39 with 2:41 left in the game.
Seconds later, Wilmington would respond by going on an 8-0 run to take a 47-39 edge with 49 seconds remaining in the game. Six of the eight points came from the free-throw line.
The Wildcats would score five more points in the game to seal a 52-47 victory over Goldey Beacom.
