Delaware State would trail by three points at the end of the first half.
The game started with the Hornets jumping out to a quick 17-5 advantage with 11:51 left in the opening half. Martaz Robinson and Graduate Student forward Kyle Johnson scored ten of the 17 points on the run.
DSU’s defense was solid during this time, as they had nine defensive rebounds, one block, and one steal.
Starting at the 10:26 minute mark, Chicago State would outscore Delaware State 28-13 to take a 33-30 edge into halftime.
DSU wins 66-60!
Fast forward to the 14:51 minute mark in the second half, where O’Koye Parker would drain a three-pointer to cut the lead to two points (41-39).
A minute and 50 seconds later, the Hornets would outscore the Cougars 17-11 to grab a 56-52 advantage with 5:50 remaining in the game. Freshman guard Jevin Muniz , Parker, and Martaz Robinson would score 16 of the 17 points during that time.
In the last five minutes of the game, Delaware State would score ten more points to seal a 66-60 victory over Chicago State. Five of the ten points came from the free-throw line.
