Centeno & Thomas combine for 59 points in Goldey-Beacom’s 89-66 win over Georgian Court

Goldey-Beacom would lead by two points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Lightning jumping out to a 13-5 advantage with 14:53 left in the opening half. Goldey-Beacom drained three shots from the three-point line on the run, as Damani Thomas made two, and sophomore guard Trey Lewis had the other one.

GBC’s defense was also solid during this time, as they had one block, four defensive rebounds, and two steals.

Twenty-seven seconds later, Georgian Court would start to wake up, as the team outscored the Lightning 16-8 to take a 21-20 edge with 9:10 remaining in the first half.

Fast forward to the 4:06 minute mark, where the Goldey-Beacom’s Thomas would hit a jump shot to give his team a three-point lead (32-29).

GBC would add ten more points to their score in the first half to end with a 42-40 advantage heading into halftime. Ayshion Centeno had the hot hand during this time as he scored eight of the team’s ten points.

Lighting win 89-66!

Goldey came out in the early minutes of the second half firing on all cylinders, as the team went on a 25-9 run to grab a 67-49 lead with 11:25 left in the game.  Zayon Marsh and Damani Thomas would score 17 of the 25 points during that time.

The Lightning’s defense continued their strong play, as they had eight defensive rebounds, two blocks, and one steal.

Fast forward to the 2:10 minute mark, when Goldey-Beacom’s Thomas would continue his hot streak from the three-point line, as he would drain one to give his team a 28-point advantage (89-61).

The Lightning would end up winning the game by a dominating 89-66 score over the Lions.
