Four Wilmington University players score in double-digits in a late second-half comeback win over Bloomfield

Wilmington University would trail by four points at the end of the first half.

The game started with the Wildcats jumping out to a 6-2 advantage with 18:11 left in the opening half.

Sixty-five seconds later, Bloomfield would start to wake up, as the team went on a 16-4 run to grab an 18-10 lead with 12:07 remaining in the first half. The Bears drained three shots from the three-point line during that time.

Fast forward to the 9:50 minute mark, where Wilmington’s Justin Thomas would make a three-pointer to tie the game at 21.

At the 3:24 minute mark, Bloomfield would find themselves with a lead once more, as Andres Fulgencio would sink a layup to push his team’s advantage to five points (35-30).

Starting at the 2:17 minute mark, Wilmington would score six straight points to tie the game at 37 with 1:19 left in the opening half. Sophomore center Nalik Veasley would score four of the six points during that run.

Seconds later, the Bears would score four unanswered points to end the first half with a 41-37 edge.

WilmU wins 74-70!

The second half started with Bloomfield dashing off on a 7-2 run to push their lead to 48-39 with 17:14 remaining in the game.

At the 16:47 minute mark, Wilmington would go on to outscore the Bears 10-4 to cut the deficit to three points (52-49) with 12:34 left in the second half. Justin Thomas scored five of the ten points during the run.

Fast forward to the 6:06 minute mark, where Bloomfield’s Josh Morris drained a three-pointer to expand his team’s advantage to 11 points (68-57).

The Wildcats might have been down double digits, but the team would keep fighting, as the team scored 14 straight points to take a 71-68 edge with 1:01 left in the game. Justin Thomas,  Amiri Stewart, and Taalib Holloman would score 11 of the 14 points during the run.

WilmU’s defense was also strong during this time, as they had four defensive rebounds, four steals, and one block.

Wilmington would score three more points to seal a 74-70 comeback victory over the Bears.
