All Five Wilmington University starters score in double-digits to earn their first victory of the season

Wilmington University would lead by two points at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with Cheyney jumping out a quick 5-1 advantage with 7:41 left in the opening quarter.

Eighteen seconds later, Wilmington would dash off on a 14-8 run to end the first quarter with a 15-13 lead. The trio of Jade Roberts, Amber Washington, and Fatou Ndao scored 13 of the team’s 14 points during that time.

WilmU’s defense was solid during the run, as they had three steals, one block, and two defensive rebounds.

Wildcats would continue to hold a two-point lead at the end of the first half.

The Wolves would continue to be hot in the opening minutes of quarters, as in the second, they would outscore Wilmington 7-2 to take a 20-17 advantage with 6:31 left in the first half.

Starting at the 5:28 minute mark, the Wildcats would respond by firing off on a 10-5 run, which allowed them to grab a 27-25 edge at the end of the second quarter. Fatou Ndao was the scoring leader during that time, as she scored four of the team’s ten points.

Rebounding was a factor in the run, as the WilmU collected nine rebounds.

WilmU would continue to hold a slim lead in the third quarter.

For the first time in the game, Wilmington would start a quarter out fast, as the team scored five unanswered points to push their advantage to 32-25 with 6:57 remaining in the third quarter.

Forty-five seconds later, The Wolves would roar back, as the team went on an 11-4 run to tie the game at 36 with 44 seconds left in the third period.

Trinity Brittingham would give WilmU a two-point lead (38-36) at the end of the third quarter by sinking two free throw shots.

Wilmington University wins 62-42!

The Wildcats would open up the fourth quarter by blazing off on a 12-0 run to extend their advantage to 48-36 with 5:49 left in the game.

Rebounding played a part in the run, as the team collected ten rebounds.

For the rest of the fourth quarter, WilmU would outscore Cheyney 14-6 to seal a 62-42 victory. Trinity Brittingham would score seven of Wilmington’s 14 points during the run.
